Wicked Engine of Connected Desire
The Wicked Engine of Connected Desire, September 2007

The Wicked Engine Project began with drawings and deliberations about our increasing disconnection from natural reality. I interviewed 35 volunteers about their feelings on and observations of disconnection in their own lives and their desires for changes/relief.

The video conversations served as 'fuel' for the engine and determined its final form and function. The project culminated with an interactive environment built during an open-gallery, two week residency at The LAB, in San Francisco's Mission District. Four talented local actors collaborated with the artist and the audience in an activation performance in which disconnection was acknowledged and released through collective action and sound.
